Our Engineering Team
Shariar Motakef, Ph.D.
Dr. Motakef served on the faculty of the Mechanical Engineering Department at MIT for eight years prior to founding Cape Simulations. Shari's expertise is in the area of thermo-fluids, heat transfer, elastic and inelastic deformations in bulk materials and thin films, and chemically reacting flows.
Matthew Overholt, Ph.D.
Dr. Overholt has a doctoral degree from Cornell University. Matt's expertise is in thermo-fluids, turbulence modeling, statistical methods in fluid mechanics and radiation heat transfer, high speed flows, and design and analysis of high temperature equipment.
Piotr Becla, Ph.D.
Dr. Becla, a research scientist at MIT and CapeSym, has a doctoral degree from Technical University of Wroclaw and expertise in crystal growth, characterization, and device fabrication for compound semiconductors.
Ali Moazed, Ph.D.
Dr. Moazed has a doctoral degree from the University of Tennessee in Engineering Mechanics. He has over 25 years of experience in finite element based design, analysis and optimization. His expertise is in elasto-plastic deformations and fatigue in industrial equipment and structures, such as rotating equipment including axial and centrifugal fans, compressors, pumps and centrifuges, as well as power transformers and medical devices. Dr. Moazed is a registered professional engineer in the states of Massachusetts, and California.
Kryzysztof Becla
Krys Becla is a Cum Laude graduate of Northeastern University with expertise in crystal growth equipment design, process control systems, and information technology.
John Fiala, Ph.D.
Dr. Fiala holds mathematics, engineering and advanced science degrees, and provides
software development expertise for data processing and visualization.
Mohammad Kassemi, Ph.D.
Dr. Kassemi has a doctoral degree from University of Ohio. Dr. Kassemi's expertise is in the area physiological flow and structural dynamics, cardiovascular and vestibular system modeling, space-related physiological and medical disorders, as well as cryogenic fluid storage and management. Dr. Kassemi is Chief Scientist at the National Center for Exploration Research at NASA Glenn Research Center, and a consultant at CapeSym.
